Nicholas Ward

Nicholas Ward is an attorney, and concentrates his practice of more than thirty years in the areas of estate planning, probate and trust administration and fiduciary litigation. In the latter practice area, Ward has been consulted as an expert regarding a variety of issues arising from attorney, trustee and other fiduciary conduct. His services have been utilized by counsel for both plaintiffs and defendants as well as by Bar Counsel. He is the former Consultant Register of Wills of the District of Columbia and has served on numerous bar committees, including as Chair of the Estates, Trusts and Probate Section of the D.C. Bar and as a member of the Board of Directors of the Bar Association of the District of Columbia. He has been a member of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia Advisory Committee on Fiduciary and Probate Rules since 1975. Mr. Ward has represented and provided general counseling services to a variety of non-profit organizations, including museums and historic associations. Ward is the author/editor of Wills, Trusts and Estates (titled in earlier editions as Will and Testamentary Trust Forms and cited in Estate of Felica Spinner, 717 A.2d 362 (D.C. 1998)) and serves as State Editor of The Probate Counsel. Ward is a member of the District of Columbia bar and the bar of the United States Supreme Court. He is a graduate of Columbia University (B.A. 1963) and the Georgetown University.
